Tsitsipas gave $10,000 for the children of Ukraine

Stefanos Tsitsipas

Stefanos Tsitsipas put his hand in his pocket to support the children of Ukraine.

The Greek tennis player, after the $10,000 he gave before the US Open, donated the same amount to Elina Svitolina's foundation.

Svitolina is the top tennis player from Ukraine, who is currently pregnant and retired from tennis, but has created a foundation to help young children.

With the war in Ukraine, the money from the foundation goes to children who fled their country because of the war.

β€œI felt the need to help Ukraine in another way,” Tsitsipas explained, β€œI wanted to support young Ukrainians in such a difficult time for them.

Elina Svitolina thanked her colleague and said: β€œI knew that Stefanos is not only outstanding athlete, but also a big-hearted person. Actually, it is important not only who you are on a court, but also what your values are off court. Today Ukraine is supported by the whole world. But I feel especially proud of what my friends and colleagues are doing. For the help that Stefanos has provided.”
