Elina Svitolina congratulated Stefanos Tsitsipas for his $10,000 donation to her charity, which aids young Ukrainian tennis players in realizing their full potential.
The young Greek is set to play at the 2022 Laver Cup alongside Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic but he still found time to support what he thinks is right.
Tsitsipas donated $10,000 to Elina Svitolina's foundation and said he recognized that Ukraine needed help.
“I felt the need to help Ukraine in another way,” Tsitsipas explained. “I wanted to support young Ukrainians in such a difficult time for them."
The Ukrainian thanked her colleague from the ATP Tour for the donation and added that she knew he was a very generous person.
“I knew that Stefanos is not only outstanding athlete, but also a big-hearted person," said Svitolina. "Actually, it is important not only who you are on a court, but also what your values are off court. Today Ukraine is supported by the whole world. But I feel especially proud of what my friends and colleagues are doing. For the help that Stefanos has provided.”
