Unruly passenger forced landing in Thessaloniki, had fake ID

According to police, a 41-year-old Tunisian man was detained on Monday for allegedly acting disruptive on a commercial flight, which forced the pilot to make an impromptu landing in Thessaloniki in northern Greece.

The suspect was a passenger on a Tunisair trip that connected Istanbul and Tunis. After the plane touched down, Greek police seized him.

Later, the police claimed he was travelling with fake identification and had previously been convicted in Greece for drug-related offences.

The man was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday on charges of interfering with public transportation safety.
