AUSTRALIA: Greek Film Festival Opens with acclaimed feature "My Name is Eftihia"

The Greek Film Festival 2022 of Australia opens its doors on Thursday October 13 at Palace Cinema Como and the Astor Theatre in Melbourne and Palace Norton Street in Sydney. After a two-year hiatus, the festival returns to Australian screens with the acclaimed feature, “My name is EftIhia”.

My name is Eftihia” tells the story of the life of Greece’s greatest female lyricist, Eftihia Papagiannopoulou. Born in Smyrna, she travelled from Smyrna to Greece and went on to pen a massive volume of timeless popular songs which was set to music by Tsitsanis, Kaldaras, Ηiotis, and Hadjidakis, among others. Whilst her name means happiness, she had a troubled life but one that she lived on her own terms.

The 2022 Greek Film Festival program follows opening night with 13 narrative features, 3 documentaries and the Student Film Festival in a diverse offering of the best that Greek cinema has to offer.

Tickets for Opening Night with the full program in Melbourne and Sydney are on sale.

The 2022 Greek Film Festival is presented by the Greek Community of Melbourne and the Greek Orthodox Community of NSW.
