Erdoğan: Insists on fake news - "Greek ships bury the innocent in the Aegean"

In his speech on Tuesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan insisted on fake news about what is happening in the Aegean with illegal immigrants. The Turkish president asserted: "we see how Greek ships bury innocents in the Aegean and the Mediterranean. Have we heard anything from the world?"

Erdoğan, as reported by SKAI, also claimed that it is Turkey which rescues the immigrants because the Turks, as Muslims, "fulfill the demands of Islam".

"Our frigates catch up with them and rescue them from the sea because we are Muslims and we fulfill the demands of our Islam," Erdoğan said.

The outrageous claims made by the president of Turkey were said in the same speech in which he also referred to Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

"The Greek prime minister is asking for help from the US. Against whom? Against Turkey."

"Whatever you do, we will always do the right thing and we are ready to do it," added the Turkish president, addressing the Greek prime minister and without giving more details about what exactly he meant.

In the same speech, Erdoğan referred to the superiority of Turkey and how it stands out for its economy, its military capabilities and its contribution to humanitarian issues, but also to the Gülenists.

He said "the [Gülenist] FETO organisation is no different from ISIS. One is the other's soulmate."

Meanwhile, Mitsotakis would agree to a Turkish request for a meeting with Erdoğan in Prague this week, government spokesman Ioannis Oikonomou said Monday.

“If the Turkish president – who is the one to have fueled the tension with his statements – seeks a meeting with the Greek prime minister, the Greek side will… respond positively,” he said in a response to a question at a press briefing.
