Greek President talks Turkey with Irish counterpart President Michael Higgins

Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou  met with her Irish counterpart President Michael Higgins on the sidelines of the 17th Informal Meeting of Heads of State of the Arraiolos Group in Malta.

Sakellaropoulou said that revisionism, aggressive rhetoric, and the lack of respect of international law and good neighborly relations jeopardise peace and stability, in what was a clear reference to Turkey with its increasingly threatening rhetoric.

"The two presidents had the opportunity to confirm the excellent relations of Greece and Ireland in sectors of mutual interest, while they discussed the continuing war in Ukraine and the associated serious challenges that Europe must face united," a statement from the Greek president's office said.

The Arraiolos Group is an informal meeting of presidents of parliamentary and semi-presidential European Union member states, held roughly once in a year.
