TURKEY: Erdoğan and Bahçeli losing in the polls to Kemalist Coalition

Despite the war cries against Greece, the opinion polls show that the ruling coalition in Turkey of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the Nationalist Action Party (MHP) see their strength significantly diminishing as opposition parties are prevailing, something that will cause concern for Recep Tayyip Erdoğan ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

The poll shows the lead of the opposition People's Republican Party (CHP) and the inability of the government partner - Devlet Bahçeli - to pass the electoral threshold (7%) to enter the new parliament.

The survey was carried out by the company ALF Research with a sample of 2,560 people in 33 provinces of Turkey, between October 1-3.

In the survey, participants were asked: "Which party would you vote for if there was a general election this Sunday?"

The results of the research:

• Republican People's Party (CHP) 29.1%
• Justice and Development Party (AKP) 28.6%
• Good Party (IYI) 14.1%
• People's Party (HDP) 8.3%
• Nationalist Action Party (MHP) 6.00%
• Victory (ZAFER) 2.5%
• Party of Democracy and Progress (DEVA) 2.2%
• Party of the Future (GELECEK) 2.00%

Regarding the alliances formed for the 2021 presidential elections, the opposition coalition "National Alliance" receives 43.2%, compared to 34.6% of the "Presidential Alliance" of Erdoğan and Bahçeli.
