Love Island star Antigoni Buxton in talks to represent Greece

Antigoni Buxton, a Love Island star, is in negotiations to represent Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest, MailOnline has learned.

The 26-year-old reality star, who is of Greek and Cypriot descent, travelled to Athens to perform her art before submitting three songs to the nation's top TV network, which broadcast the event.

She has been informed that a decision will be made soon, and she is optimistic that she will be given the go-ahead to perform at the championship event in Liverpool the following year.

She told the MailOnline: ‘I’m submitting three songs but one, in particular, is my favourite. It’s an up-tempo, powerful, fiery, romantic track with Greek and English lyrics.

‘I’m so proud of my Greek roots and my goal as a musician is to share Greek sounds and culture with the world,’ she added.

‘As the Eurovision is being held in the UK where I live, it would be an honour to be able to use my platform here to shine a light on the country I’m representing.’

She appeared on Love Island over the summer as a bombshell arrival but has a background in music have been previously signed to Island Records.

Antigoni, the daughter of celebrity chef Tonia, enjoyed a memorable stint in the Love Island villa this summer, having joined as one of the bombshell arrivals.

The North Londoner has a music background and was signed by Island Records when she was 20 by former president Darcus Beese, the man who also signed Amy Winehouse to the label.

After parting company with the firm, she set up her own independent label Sirena Records and released a single called Hit List in May.
