ATHENS: Two police officers arrested for alleged rape of 19-year-old

Two police officers of the motorbike unit (DIAS) have been arrested after accusations of raping a 19-year-old woman at the Omonia Police station in central Athens were made.

The forensic report was pivotal for the arrests of the two police officers, as the medical examiner found traces of sexual assault on the 19-year-old.

The incident, as reported by Proto Thema, took place in the early hours of Wednesday inside the police station. The girl, as she complained, was led by the two policemen into a room and raped.

In his statement, the Minister of Citizen Protection, Takis Theodorikakos, requested the immediate investigation and clarification of the case by the head of the Internal Affairs Service of the security forces.

The accused, on their part, claimed that everything that happened was done with her consent. Specifically, after the end of their shift, she appeared at the police station herself and one of the police officers arranged a date with her.

While they were going home in their car, the sexual act took place inside the vehicle with one of the police officers. They claim that the cameras can corroborate their account.
