Austria awards Greek minister country's highest honour over handling of migration crisis

Austria awarded Greek migration minister Notis Mitarakis with highest state honour on Tuesday, after he was presented with the Grand Cross of the Order of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria, by Austria's Interior Minister Gerhard Karner, in Vienna on Tuesday.

The Greek minister was decorated in the presence of the Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria Karl Nehammer.

Mitarakis received Austria's highest state honour "for his contribution to Greece-Austria relations and to the management of the migration crisis," noted the Greek ministry.
