Citizen Protection Minister Takis Theodorikakos announced in a tweet on Friday that 900 rallies and marches took place in Athens during January-August 2022, resulting in streets being shut down in 314 cases.
Throughout Greece, there were 2,928 rallies and marches during the first eight months of the year, and streets shut down for 86 of these, while in Thessaloniki there were 441 rallies and marches and the streets shut down in 101 cases.
"We apply the law for marches, respecting the right to protest. We ensure free movement, and a smooth social and economic life," the Citizen Protection minister commented.
