Erdoğan's extreme nationalist rhetoric against Greece and the West is paying off in the polls

The short lead that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan now has in the opinion polls against his main rival Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu is considered to be the result of his extreme nationalist rhetoric against Greece.

Expecting benefits at the ballot box in the 2023 Presidential Elections, Erdoğan is simultaneously targeting the US - and the West in general - by weaving conspiracy scenarios which are then presented and analysed for hours in pro-government media networks.

The statements of the Turkish president after yesterday's cabinet meeting, in which he spoke of: "imperialists who do not digest the political and economic independence of Turkey", show that he will continue to "bet" on the "evil" West which - as the pro-government media say - is "using" Greece to hurt Turkey.

According to the latest research by the authoritative MetroPOLL company, in the event of a second round in the 2023 Presidential Elections, the difference between Erdoğan and Kılıçdaroğlu now reaches one percent in favour of the current president, when in the previous measurements the head of the opposition came first.

Specifically:

Erdoğan: 44.9%
Kılıçdaroğlu: 43.9%
Undecided: 2.8%

The production of the domestic short-range ballistic missile "Tayfun" , and its recent launch into the Black Sea with doubtful results, is also considered to further strengthen - in the next polls - Erdoğan's image.

This is an image that has been seriously affected by the impoverishment of a large part of Turkish society due to inflation and unemployment.

Given that the creation of external "enemies" and extreme rhetoric seems to be paying off in polls, it is considered certain that the Turkish government will continue in the same provocative and pro-war pattern against Greece, with the opposition appearing "more royal" for exactly the same vote-seeking reasons.
