Dov Kornits, publisher and founder of Film Ink, Australia's leading film magazine, invites Greek Australian filmmakers and film lovers to attend the launch of his new distribution company Screen Inc which kicks off from next Wednesday with a three gala screening events at Sydney’s The Ritz and Event Cinemas George Street.

“I wanted to do something special,” says Screen Inc. founder and director Dov Kornits. “Because Screen Inc. is all about the movies, what better way could there be to launch the company than by screening the first three films on our slate? The Screen Inc. Showcase will be three days of great Aussie film across two iconic Sydney cinemas.”

As the founder, editor and publisher of the long running FilmInk Magazine, Dov Kornits is a true mainstay of Australian film. His exciting new venture, film distribution company Screen Inc., will provide a platform for Australian filmmakers to get their content in cinemas and in front of audiences.

“I cannot think of a better deed than discovering a great movie and sharing it with others,” said Kornits. “Film distribution is really an extension of what I have been doing since my university days when my passion for cinema inspired me to start a film society; then FilmInk and now Screen Inc. I look forward to sharing my passion for cinematic storytelling with audiences and with likeminded businesses such as cinemas and streamers.”

The Screen Inc. Showcase kicks off on Wednesday, November 9 at The Ritz in Sydney’s Randwick with a special gala screening of The Land. Directed by acclaimed Swedish-born photographer Ingvar Kenne (who has exhibited internationally for thirty years, with a host of high profile shows and five books to his credit), The Land is a stunning combination of brave, artful, bravura filmmaking and richly layered, deeply personal storytelling. Boasting powerhouse performances from co-writers Steve Rodgers and Cameron Stewart, The Land brilliantly details a complex male friendship shadowed by a long-buried secret from the past.

The Screen Inc. Showcase continues on Thursday November 10 at Event Cinemas George Street with a gala screening of The Florist, the savvy satire from writer/director Andrew Ryan, which is produced by and stars Rebecca Murphy as enterprising millennial Annika, who’s made her name selling edible hypnotic flowers to hip eateries across Los Angeles. Ruthless and blindly ambitious, Annika puts her ethics on the line when her competitors start closing in. Like the most astute, biting films, The Florist was made by outsiders – a couple of Aussies trying to break through in LA – and the result is a morality tale writ large.

Closing out The Screen Inc. Showcase is a very special presentation of a 4K remastered version of Serhat Caradee’s taut 2009 crime drama Cedar Boys. A powerful and authentic look at growing up as a first-generation migrant in Australia, Cedar Boys is even more relevant now than it was on its initial theatrical release, and features bravura performances from Les Chantery, Rachael Taylor, Martin Henderson, Bren Foster, Buddy Dannoun and Waddah Sari. Over ten years since its initial release, Cedar Boys still soars.

Sponsored by Hawke’s Brewing Co. and Kabuki Boy, each screening will be a special event in itself. There will be a media wall for photo opportunities; cast and crew from each film will be in attendance at each screening, along with VIP guests; and every ticket holder will receive a tailored goodie bag.
