Shocking images emerged from the bottom of Agia Pelagia in Crete as divers found effectively a vehicle graveyard after a deadly flood.
The recovery operation was completed and involved a total of 16 cars in Agia Pelagia and Paleokastro as well as motorbikes, Kriti TV reported. At the same time, swimming and fishing are prohibited even in the area as the pharmaceutical preparations that ended up in the sea water posed a risk to public health.
The image is eerie and does not resemble the crystal clear waters of Agia Pelagia. Divers move among buried cars, tires and entire store merchandise.
The image is shocking as the sea turned into a graveyard of cars. Their owners did not have time to save their vehicles and ended up with the rushing river at the bottom.
Among the divers who lived the paradoxical experience and witnessed the whole life of the locals under water, 19-year-old Michalis Makridakis.
The silent world of the seabed is awe-inspiring. Within a few minutes the terrifying storm swept away everything and all the belongings of the residents ended up in the sea. It is indicative that after 3 weeks, it is still "drowning" in the mud.
And the cleaning of the beach was completed in Agia Pelagia. However, swimming and fishing are still prohibited as dangerous substances ended up in the waters. When it is decided by the controls that the sea is safe again, the ban will be lifted.
