November 21 is Armed Forces Day in Greece where we thank our soldiers

Armed Forces

November 21 is a day of celebrating the Greek Armed Forces and the Presentation of the Virgin Mary, their Patroness.

The Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, also known as the Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos to the Temple, celebrates Mary's parents, Joachim and Anne, receiving a heavenly message that they would have a child and the preparation for her role as Mother of God.

The Virgin Mary is the Patroness of the Greek Armed Forces and today her feast day is celebrated.

Given this, in the midst of many challenges against Turkish aggression, the officers of Greece's army, navy and air force are constantly guarding Greek land, sea and air borders with courage and self-sacrifice.

Greek Armed Forces

This year, it is an opportunity for Greek children to get to know the history of the Armed Forces, in collaboration with the War Museum, through its multimedia applications, which include virtual tour, videos with 3D virtual battles and other digital media.

You can find it here.

The Greek Prime Minster celebrated the day with his message.

The women and men of the Armed Forces selflessly serve the homeland on all fronts. Tireless guards of national security, but also protectors of the daily well-being of citizens. Your dedication to our national duty fills us with pride! Thank you!
