Babis Anagnostopoulos: The pilot's parents want custody of Lydia

The hearing of the case to outline communication between the family of Babis Anagnostopoulos and his daughter Lydia, but also for parental care after the news that Caroline's mother Susan traveled with her granddaughter to the Philippines, was postponed until January 17, 2023.

According to The Newspaper, Caroline's family requested that the way the child communicates with Babis Anagnostopoulos' parents be changed so it can be done via Skype.

The pilot's parents have requested custody of the child.

People close to Caroline's family report that the child "is better abroad and Susan made a sacrifice to leave her husband behind. Psychologists recommended they leave and they listened."

"Now the parents consider that they should take parental care of the child, the court will decide on what is the most unhealthy environment," they added.

The same people comment that the court will decide "if little Lydia should grow up and be educated in the same environment that her mother's killer, Babis Anagnostopoulos, grew up in or if she will be educated and raised in the environment that the deceased Caroline herself grew up in along with her family and cousins."

In May 2022, Anagnostopoulos was convicted of premeditated murder by three full-time judges and four jurors at the Athens Mixed Jury Court.

He was also found guilty of animal abuse and two counts of perverting the course of justice after his elaborate lies were unmasked.

Anagnostopoulos received a life sentence for the premeditated murder of Caroline and is now in prison. He was also given 11 years and six months for brutally killing their dog and a fine of €21,000.

His lawyer said the verdict was "expected" and now the 34-year old is expected to live decades behind bars.
