The Routes Marketing Awards are unique in the sense that the voting and decision process rests solely with the airlines, rewarding excellence in aviation marketing strategy and development worldwide. Shortlisted at the same category with Athens International Airport were the airports of Munich, Rome’s Fiumicino and Vienna.
Ioanna Papadopoulou, Director of Communication & Marketing, Athens International Airport, said:
"The Routes Conference awards were reinstated this year, after almost three years. We feel deeply honoured and excited that in this recommencement of Routes World’s Awards, Athens International Airport has once again been acknowledged and awarded the top distinction at its category, with the votes and universal recognition by its airline partners.
The companies awarded us for our marketing strategy and our continuous effort to create the conditions and marketing tools needed to support and develop their activity from/to Athens, which resulted in the addition of new airlines and routes to our network and greatly enhanced the passenger traffic recovery in 2022.
We were also praised for the creativity of this year's campaign, which was reflected in our exhibition booth. This was the result of the hard work, inspired efforts and creativity demonstrated by the entire airport marketing team.
