Earthquakes in Evia: Two tremors within half an hour - Areas of Attica were also shaken

At 3.6 Richter, the Geodynamic Institute reviewed the new seismic tremor that shook Evia at 10:38 on Thursday morning. The initial estimate was at 3.8 Richter. The new earthquake occurred eight kilometres southeast of Zaraki with a focal depth of five kilometres.

The seismic tremor was recorded by the Geodynamic Seismological Institute seven kilometres. southeast of Zaraki in Evia with a focal depth of five kilometres.

The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Institute recorded the earthquake at 3.8 Richter.

Yesterday's earthquake of magnitude 4.3 on the Richter scale was recorded at 17:28 on Wednesday.

According to the revised solution of the Geodynamic Institute, the focal depth was at 13.5 km while the location was 8 km southeast of the village of Zarakes.

After the 4.3 Richter, in the same area, about 15 minutes later, smaller aftershocks of less than 3 Richter occurred.

In addition, a few minutes before the tremor that was also felt in Attica, smaller earthquakes of magnitude 1.9 and 1.5 were recorded.

The Euro-Mediterranean Institute speaks of a 4.2 magnitude.

According to estimates, the earthquake recorded on Wednesday afternoon may be part of the post-seismic sequence after the strong earthquake of 5 Richter in Evia about two weeks ago.

The 5 Richter earthquake

It is recalled that a 5 Richter earthquake occurred on the night of November 29, at 10:06 p.m. in Evia.

The focal depth was 8.9 km, and the epicentre was 6 km southeast of Zaraki.

In the space of 45 minutes after the 5 Richter earthquake, six more earthquakes were recorded in the same area, with the largest reaching 3.2 Richter according to the Geodynamic Institute.

In the morning of the same day, the unknown fault produced a magnitude 4.8 earthquake and then two others of magnitude 4.1 and 4.2.
