A 38-year-old driver understood what was waiting for him when it was time to disembark at the port of Zakynthos when he saw the Coast Guard carrying out checks with a trained drug detection dog.
Before it was his turn to be checked, the driver threw a bag from the window of the vehicle, but his movement was detected by the dog, which reacted positively, Proto Thema reported.
The bag was found and contained “small pieces” of heroin with a total weight of 45.4 grams. The 38-year-old was arrested.
His home was then searched, where no more drugs were found but an unlicensed four-shot hunting rifle was seized. The 38-year-old was taken to the public prosecutor of Zakynthos, with charges of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and violation of the arms law.
