EuroBasket: Greece-Germany game drew record ratings

The quarterfinal EuroBasket 2022 match in September between Greece and Germany set the record viewership numbers for Greek television.

The quarterfinal contest between the two national teams on September 13 gathered 2,198,000 viewers and an average 51.2% viewership rating for Greek public TV ERT. Public television ratings skyrocketed, reaching up to 63.6% in the final quarter.

Greece fell to Germany 96-to-107 after Giannis Antetokounmpo was ejected during the match.

However, that game was only the second most-viewed sports program in Greece in 2022.

The World Cup final was undoubtedly the sporting event of the year. The showdown between Lionel Messi's Argentina and Kylian Mbappé's France had an average share of 62.8% and a total of 2,702,000 viewers.

Also broadcasted by ERT, the 2022 Eurovision Final came in third. Greece made it to the Top 10, and public TV saw a percentage of 52.2% on the night of the Eurovision final, on May 14. In total, the evening was watched by 1,955,000 viewers.
