Afroditi Latinopoulou is angered by an upcoming event organised in Thessaloniki where drag queens will read fairy tales to children aged 3-12. The vice-president of the “PATRIDA” party, with a video she uploaded on Instagram, shouts “hands off our children”.
The event angering Latinopoulou is organised by Thessaloniki Pride and Rainbow Families, in which drag queens read Christmas stories to kindergarten and elementary school children
This particular event was organised in a private daycare centre in Kalamaria, is aimed at children aged 3-12.
“They’re not experts, they’re not role models, they can’t address babies. It’s tragic what’s happening and we all have to react,” said Latinopoulou, adding: “Keep our hands off our children.”

According to a related announcement by Thessaloniki Pride on Facebook, on Friday, December 30, from 5 to 7:30 pm, the Christmas story “The Drag Queen Who Saved Christmas” will be read by the Therapaisin group at the pre-school “Microcosmos” in Kalamaria.
According to the organisers of the event, “the drag queens will talk to us through fairy tales, on the occasion of the festive season, about gender stereotypes and how colours and games have no gender because every child can play with any game they want, without discrimination”.
The action, as mentioned in the announcement, is for children from 3 to 12 years old and is supported by the Department of Culture, Creative Media and Industries of the University of Thessaly.
