Themis Himaras, the New Democracy MP for Fthiotida, resigned as a parliamentary deputy on Wednesday following reports that his business had dealings with public-sector entities during his parliamentary term.
Himaras said that he recognised that an involuntary omission on his part had placed the party he serves and the people who honoured him with their trust and friendship in a difficult position.
The former MP said that he fully assumed "the responsibility that I bear and announce my resignation from parliamentary office, handing over the seat to New Democracy, as is my obligation."
