Greek Coast Guard fired warning shots at Turkish boat

A Greek Coast Guard patrol boat was harassed by a Turkish offshore vessel in the morning hours of Thursday when it was identifying three Turkish fishing vessels southeast of Farmakonisi island, well within Greek territorial waters.

According to the Greek Coast Guard, the Turkish vessel carried out dangerous maneuvers with the aim of ramming the Greek vessel. In fact, during these dangerous maneuvers, the bow of the Turkish cruiser almost hit the stern of the Greek vessel.

The crew of the Coast Guard vessel fired warning shots in a safe area and the Turkish vessel left the scene heading east towards the Turkish coast.
