The Greek Minority of Albania celebrated Epiphany - See the photos

1 19

The autocephalous Greek community in Northern Epirus (southern Albania) celebrated with splendor the feast of Epiphany.

In Dervitsani (Δερβιτσάνη, Albanian: Derviçan), a divine service was held in the Holy Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos, followed by the customary Blessing of the Waters. Similar images were also seen in the municipality of Phoenice (Φοινίκη, Albanian: Finiq).

After the end of the divine service in the Holy Church of the Apostles Peter and Paul in Mesopotamos (Μεσοπόταμος, Albanian: Mesopotam), as well as in the Holy Church of the Forty Martyrs in Alykos (Αλύκο), a large number of believers went to the Bistrica river, where the Blessing of the Waters took place in its icy waters.

Epiphany was also celebrated in Heimarra (Χειμάρρα, Albanian: Himarë). Immediately after the end of the divine service, the throwing of the Holy Cross followed on the beach with a large participation due to the good weather.
