Leftist opposition MeRA25 leader Yanis Varoufakis will visit Cuba from 25 to 30 January at the Cuban government's invitation, a party announcement said on Monday.
As it is noted, Varoufakis will hold talks with the Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, the Ministry of Finance and Prices of Cuba Meisi Bolaños Weiss and with former President of Cuba Raul Castro.
"Apart from the exchange of view on the international and geopolitical conjucture, the main issue of the discussions will be the initiative for a Progressive International that was launched with the Declaration of Athens in May 2022 and the establishment of a new non-aligned movement".
Additionally, Varoufakis will be keynote speaker at the 5th International Conference for the Global Balance on the "Reasons and nature of the New Cold War".
During his visit to Cuba, Varoufakis will be accompanied by a numerous delegation of the Progressive International among them and former Finance Minister and candidate President of Ecuador Andres Arauz.
