Tatjana Patitz dies at age 56: The Vogue model who was in George Michael’s Freedom video

Cover girl Tatjana Patitz – one of the top supermodels of the 1980s and 1990s – died at 56, DailyMail can confirm.

The star’s agent at the Model CoOp in New York City confirmed the sad news to DailyMail.com on Wednesday morning, saying Tatjana had recently passed. No cause of death has been shared yet. Vogue magazine was the first to break the news.

The Hamburg-born beauty was best known for her work with Vogue and her starring role in the George Michael music video Freedom from 1990 with pals Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington.

Her last Instagram post was in August 2022, showing an image of her dog.

A stunner: The siren was often on the cover of Vogue. The 5ft11in the star was beloved by the photographer Herb Ritts.

‘Tatjana was always the European symbol of chic, like Romy Schneider-meets-Monica Vitti,’ remembered Anna Wintour, a chief content officer of Condé Nast and global editorial director of Vogue.

‘She was far less visible than her peers—more mysterious, more grown-up, more unattainable—and that had its own appeal.’

Patitz was born in Hamburg to an Estonian mother and a German father. The family then moved to Skanör in Sweden.
