Thanasi Kokkinakis must wait until today to try to win his first-round match with Fabio Fognini after taking the first two sets before rain stopped play.
Thanasi Kokkinakis has been left hanging with a second-round clash with five-time Australian Open finalist Andy Murray in sight after rain forced the overnight postponement of his round-one match.
The Australian was five points away from possible victory over wily Italian Fabio Fognini, leading 6-1, 6-2, 4-2.
With Fognini serving, Kokkinakis was up 15-40 when rain stopped play for the sixth and final time on the roofless Kia Arena in a frustrating night for both players.
It was rescheduled for a 1230pm start today back on the same court.
