Nikos Oikonomopoulos- The Miracle Witnessed Whilst Filming His Documentary "Faith"

NIkos Oikonomopoulos 1

Nikos Oikonomopoulos witnessed a miracle and the cameras were there to capture the phenomenon.

Ant1+ recently aired their exclusive behind-the-scenes style documentary about the singer’s life, many hitherto unknown aspects of his life, both professional and personal, including one close to his heart...his faith.

The chart-topping singer opts for a more private life off the stage and behind the cameras. Occasionally misunderstood for his preference to preserve and protect the privacy of his private life, which can wrongfully be mistaken for arrogance, when in fact it's modesty. To those that know him, Nikos Oikonomopoulos is known for his modesty, often an uncommon characteristic for an artist. He doesn't take his success for granted and recognises the importance of being humble in his world of work and in his life.

Oikonomopoulos' interviews are few and far between, his love for singing and music is not synonymous with what comes with the territory: fame, publicity, scrutiny etc. It was never about the 'extras' that are associated with the industry; it was and still is about living out his childhood dream to be a singer, to sing and entertain the audiences. His innate awareness of achieving that dream is admirable; he acknowledges the blessings bestowed upon him by the grace of God.

He's never shied away from publicly expressing he is a devout Greek Orthodox Christian. Incredibly respectful and honourable in today's society where many have lost their way and away from religion and church.

His understanding of spirituality is about seeking a meaningful connection with God, recognising that your role in life has a greater value than what you do every day. It can relieve you from dependence on material things and praying will bring you comfort in a personal relationship with God. Spiritual experiences are often described as sacred or transcendent or simply a deep sense of aliveness and interconnectedness.

Oikonomopulos with Ant1+ takes us along for an up-close and personal insight to his life, including his faith. The documentary "Faith" highlights the singer's passion for his strong religious beliefs that relate humanity to spirituality. Miracles can happen to a devout person who has deep religious beliefs and that's exactly what happened during the filming of his documentary the cameras were there to capture the miracle!

"What happened here in the church is something that I have experienced myself”

The miracle that happened inside the church, the icon of the Virgin Mary, Theotokos, suddenly flooded with myrrh. Inside, outside, behind and around the icon was saturated with the fragrant holy anointing oil. As both the singer and the small intimate camera crew that were there filming the documentary, all witnessed before their very eyes.

"What happened here in the church is something that I have experienced myself,” the singer confesses in front of Father Christodoulos.

“One reason I took you there and we are talking about this issue is that I want the world to see it with their own eyes. To help strengthen the faith of people who may have lost it. If you tell just anyone, they may say “Okay, it doesn’t make sense”, but in spiritual things, there is no logic. God is not interpreted”

“Everyone saw it, it’s not something I made up in my head. And we were only five people at that moment because I had asked Father Christodoulos to do this interview so that there would be peace. She did her miracle” added the singer.

A remarkable and life-changing experience...just remember, you have to believe to receive.

Watch a clip from the documentary that captured the miracle. It's visibly evident the singer is so overcome with emotions, spiritually moved, in awe of the miracle and by the presence of the Holy Spirit.

The first docu-special of ANT1+ is a biographical documentary tribute to the beloved singer Nikos Oikonompoulos, produced by Antenna Studios.
