ALKISTIS PROTOPSALTI WILL PERFORM LIVE AT THE GREEK FESTIVALS IN MELBOURNE AND SYDNEY

The much-awaited Antipodes Festival in Melbourne and Greek Festival in Sydney are proud to announce that one of Greece's most significant and respected vocalists, Alkistis Protopsaltis will perform at both festivals.

As part of an elite group of Greek artists who introduced contemporary Greek music to the international stage, Alkistis Protopsaltis promises to offer an unforgettable experience at the Greek Fest in Darling Harbour- Sydney, on Sunday 19 February and The Antipodes Festival 2023, on Saturday 25 February.

Chair of the Greek Festival of Sydney, Nia Karteris stated “Alkistis Protopsaltis is one of the most successful female artists in Greece. Her concerts are always highly energetic and her ability to connect with the audience has seen her career go from strength to strength. Her last visit to Australia was in 2002 and we are excited to have her back on our shores and part of the Greek Fest @ Darling Harbour”.

Alkistis Protopsaltis has been 40 years in the Greek discography and all her CDs are gold or platinum. She is always on centre stage, with concerts not only in Greece but all over the world: Australia, United States, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Luxemburg, Belgium, Netherlands, France, Canada, Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Israel, Lebanon, Canada, Egypt, Rumania, Cyprus, Russia, and other countries such as Cuba and China. Her performances are very creative, and she is a great leader at the music scene of her country.

Alkistis Protopsalti first appeared on the Greek music scene in 1975, and from then until now she has collaborated with the most important Greek composers such as Mikis Theodorakis, Dimos Moutsis, Elias Andriopoulos, Stamatis Kraounakis, Nikos Antypas, Stefanos Korkolis, Giannis Spanos, Stamatis Spanoudakis and Stavros Xarchakos. Loukianos Kelaidonis, Dionysis Savvopoulos. Also, with the composer Goran Bregovic and lately with Evanthia Reboutsika.

She also had great performances acting with great orchestras among them the Symphonic Orchestra of Prague, Oxford Philharmonic, the Boston Pops and the Kremlin Presidential.

She participated in the torch relay for the Athens Olympics of 2004, at the closing ceremony of the Olympic games of that period and at the opening and closing ceremonies of the latest Special Olympics of 2011, where she appeared with the famous Italian tenor Vittorio Grigolo.

Alkistis has officially represented her country abroad many times during her career, among them at the EXPO fairs in Portugal and Germany, in Cuba invited from the Greek embassy, at China at the celebration of the 35 years friendship between the two countries.

She also sings in other languages other than Greek (English, Italian, Spanish, Swahili, French, Corsican, and Hebrew) and the reviews always are the best a singer could dream of.

Alkistis Protopsalti is one of the most important Greek singers, she is very creative and the best performer of the Greek music scene.
