A prisoner is behind the theft that occurred in a tourist shop in Chania after he was allowed leave.
According to Creta Post, the incident occurred last Friday when the 41-year-old prisoner received a few days' leave.
In the morning he closed the door of the prison and at noon he robbed a tourist shop that had been closed for the winter and stole 6,000 euros in cash that was kept by its owner.
The 41-year-old is wanted by the authorities, while a case is being filed against him for the said theft. At the same time, it is being examined whether he is also responsible for other thefts that took place in the area.
It is worth noting that the 41-year-old, originally from Thessaloniki, is serving a prison sentence in the Chania penitentiary for aggravated theft.
