World’s First Invisible Yacht Conceived in Greece

The concept for an 'invisible' yacht set to enable the world's super-rich to travel in ultimate secrecy was conceived on a beach in Koufonissi island, Greece.

It was whilst on the beach in beautiful Koufonisia, famous for its crystal clear waters and stunning scenery, that Italian designer Jozeph Forakis was inspired to create a yacht as close to the sea and nature as possible, made of clouds floating above the waterline, becoming virtually invisible.

"This desire for 'invisibility' drove Forakis to develop a true zero-emissions yacht that is invisible both in design and in her environmental impact," says the team at Jozeph Forakis design about the concept.

The opulent four-level 290-foot (88-meter) super yacht "PEGASUS" would be constructed in its entirety of mirror glass to reflect the sky and the sea.

According to Foakis, PEGASUS's reflective Solar Wings, concealed in the superstructure's glass, would be able to offer solar-electric power in addition to functioning with a hydrogen hybrid source to enable the mega-wealthy to travel in stealth mode.

When in use, PEGASUS will emit no carbon dioxide and have an almost limitless range. Using solar energy, seawater is transformed into hydrogen, which may be stored for longer periods of time. Onboard fuel cells then convert hydrogen to electricity stored in Li-ion batteries for powering azimuth pods, a type of engine, and all operating and hotel systems.

Robotic 3D printing will be used during the construction of the super yacht to produce a mesh framework that integrates the hull and superstructure. In contrast to conventional building, the outcome is a structure that is incredibly robust and lightweight and can be built with less time, energy, waste, material, and space.

"The unique exterior design starts with a low, linear hull with a plumb bow and silvery metallic finish, which blends chameleon-like with the water's colours and movements," says Forakis.

"This foundation at the waterline supports the superstructure with multi-tiered, ephemeral glass wings that reflect the clouds and the sky."

The multi-level "Tree of Life," a living, breathing homage to mother nature and the nucleus of the hydroponic garden that provides fresh food and air purification, serves as the focal point of the vessel's futuristic interior design.

The hydroponic + meditation Zen Garden is located around the tree's base, which rises from a reflecting pool on the bottom deck. All four levels of the tree's vertical extension are connected by an artistically designed spiral staircase.

The owner-only top floor contains a master suite that features a sizable private patio.

The open beach club features an aquarium-style lap pool and large horizontal windows on the port and starboard sides that fold down to transform into open balconies.

In addition to the pool that converts to a helicopter landing pad when closed, PEGASUS also features an oversized jacuzzi.

If built, Forakis said that PEGASUS will be the world's first 3D-printed vessel and "invisible both in design and in her environmental impact."

The price for the super yacht is yet to be revealed.
