In the middle of the bad weather storm "Barbara", which also affects Attica, President Katerina Sakellaropoulou visited Gate E7 in Piraeus where some people have neither heating nor even a roof to protect them from the snow and the cold.
In the improvised shelters they have built, the president distributed hot beans and bread, while giving the people she spoke to some courage.
At her side were two former homeless people, who escaped the streets and found work and a home. Together with the general secretary of Social Solidarity and Combating Poverty, Georgios Stamatis, Katerina Sakellaropoulou talked to everyone.
In addition to a plate of hot food and a blanket, she wanted to give them courage, but also to draw society's attention to vulnerable groups who are tested being much more in these times of bad weather.
She noticed with satisfaction that there were clearly less people than last year as most of them have joined different programs.
