Spyros Papadopoulos revealed the reason why he cut Giannis Ploutarhos from his show

Spyros Papadopoulos spoke about a show that he always remembers and revealed one of the most uncomfortable moments he experienced.

Papadopoulos revealed the reason why he broke up with Giannis Ploutarhos and cut him from the show he was presenting.

As he said: “When I get angry, I get angry and it's over. I mean, that's how I am. I draw an X and never come back. Something happened and I got angry, not because he said of me, but of a person very dear to all of us - Stavros Kouyioumtzis."

"Something happened, he [Kouyioumtzis] was about to come and he [Ploutarhos]  was making fun of him. He was making fun of him, and I was very angry. I said that 'you can't do this shit to Stavros Kouyioumtzis', and I said that's it."

Papadopoulos emphasised: "Stavros had asked for him. I agreed since the songs are his, he called him himself, he said 'of course, of course' and then disappeared.

"He was joking. And I said, 'mock me, what do I care, but Stavros Kouyioumtzis, man? Because he's not into things anymore and he's not going to write you songs?'"

Stavros Kouyioumtzis is one of the most significant Greek music composers of the 20th century and although born in Thessaloniki in 1932, his family were refugees from Asia Minor.

He wrote his first song in 1960 and quickly becoming a prolific writer, whose work was covered by many of the leading Greek singers.

In the late 1960s, he began working with the then 19-year-old George Dalaras. He wrote Dalaras' first songs and helped establish Dalaras as one of the most important and successful Greek singers of all time.

Kouyioumtzis' songs have been covered by many important Greek singers, inclouding; Anna Vissi, Haris Alexiou, Yiannis Parios, Eleftheria Arvanitaki and Giannis Kalatzis. Aside from his solo compositions, Kouyioumtzis co-operated frequently with the poet-lyricist Manos Eleftheriou.
