Barack Obama is coming to Athens in June!

The participation of former US President Barack Obama in the SNF Nostos Conference in June was announced by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).

At this year's SNF Nostos Conference, the former US president will discuss ways to strengthen democratic culture and the importance of supporting the next generation of leaders with SNF President Andreas Dracopoulos.

The announcement of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation:

"It is with great pleasure that the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) announces the participation of President Barack Obama in the SNF Nostos Conference in June 2023. At this year's SNF Nostos Conference, Barack Obama will discuss ways to strengthen democratic culture and the importance of supporting of the next generation of leaders together with SNF President Andreas Drakopoulos.

Discover the mental health-focused SNF Nostos Conference program, which will touch on a wide variety of topics, including the loneliness epidemic, the impact of violence on young people, the relationship between faith and mental health, and the future of development mental health treatments.

As the Obama Foundation states in its announcement yesterday: "In June, the program will culminate in an in-person convening with President Obama in Athens, Greece that brings together all 105 Obama Leaders."

"The Leaders convening will be an opportunity for changemakers to conclude their six-month leadership development journey, build cross-cohort connections, and graduate into the Obama Foundation Leadership Network, our community of global program alumni.

"While in Athens, President Obama will also participate in the SNF Nostos Conference from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF)."

The SNF has proudly supported both the construction of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago and the implementation of the Obama Foundation Leaders program.

The SNF Nostos Conference is part of the SNF Nostos organised by the SNF, at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), in Athens, from June 20 – 23. The open-to-all event includes the SNF Dialogues, the SNF Nostos Run, and concerts with international artists.

This is the second time President Obama has visited the SNFCC. In 2016, during his last international visit as part of his administration, he delivered a moving speech from the stage of the Stavros Niarchos Hall.
