Turkish media: "Greece is taking measures on the Evros border after the earthquakes"


The measures taken by Athens at the Greek-Turkish border in Evros to prevent a massive attempt by migrants from illegally entering after the deadly earthquakes in Turkey and Syria was referred to by Turkish media. They emphasised the recent statements by the Minister of Immigration, Notis Mitarachi.

"After the earthquakes, Greece increased security measures in the Evros region due to concerns about a new influx of refugees from Turkey and Syria aiming to cross into Europe. In this context, the force of the border guard was strengthened with more than 100 new people, while the patrols also increased," Hurriyet published.

"Greece wants to complete the extension of the fence along its land border with Turkey as soon as possible, even if the project is not funded by the EU," said the newspaper.

The Turkish publications also show statements by the Minister of Public Order Takis Theodorikakos, who pointed out that our country is prepared in the event of immigration pressure on the Greek-Turkish border.
