They emphasised the recent statements by the Minister of Immigration, Notis Mitarachi.

"After the earthquakes, Greece increased security measures in the Evros region due to concerns about a new influx of refugees from Turkey and Syria aiming to cross into Europe. In this context, the force of the border guard was strengthened with more than 100 new people, while the patrols also increased," Hurriyet published.

"Greece wants to complete the extension of the fence along its land border with Turkey as soon as possible, even if the project is not funded by the EU," said the newspaper.
