Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu Turkey

Presidential elections will be held in Turkey on May 14, 2023. Elections are near and exciting enough as it is at its peak.

Can the ruling AKParty, which has been in power since 2002, and its ally MHP achieve a new victory? Or will the winners of the elections be the CHP, which has been in opposition in Turkey for years, and other parties that are its partners?

It's almost time for the election that all of Turkey has been eagerly waiting for. So what do the polls say?

WHO WILL WIN THE ELECTION: CUMHUR ALLIANCE OR MILLET ALLIANCE

Basically, two blocks will compete in the elections to be held in Turkey. These; Cumhur Alliance or Millet Alliance... The leading parties of the Cumhur Alliance are the AK Party and the MHP.

It is estimated that the vote rate of this alliance, which is generally supported by the religious segment, is at least 40%. The presidential candidate of the Cumhur’s Alliance, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, needs more than 50% of the votes to win the election.

WHAT ARE ERDOGAN'S ADVANTAGES?

Erdoğan, who has been in power in Turkey for more than 20 years, has announced that he will not run for President again if he wins the election that will take place on 14 May. In other words, this election will be the last election that Erdoğan competes in.

The biggest advantage of Erdoğan, who has done important services in Turkey, will be the close relationship he has established with the public.

The performance of Erdogan, who has an impressive oratory, in the rally programs will also significantly affect the election result. If Erdogan takes a strong stance in his rallies, he can win the election.

THE STATUS OF THE ECONOMY IS BAD IN TURKEY! ERDOGAN CAN LOSE FOR THIS REASON

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan won every election he entered with the AK Party. It is difficult to say that Erdoğan will definitely win the election to be held on 14 May. Because there are serious problems in the field of economy in Turkey.

The Turkish Lira experienced a great depreciation against the Dollar and Euro. Life in Turkey has become more and more expensive. Although Erdogan has made various studies in the field of economy, the problems still continue. This situation is Erdogan's greatest harm.

KEMAL KILICDAROGLU, THE CANDIDATE OF MILLET ALLIANCE

The experienced name of Turkish politics, Erdoğan's opponent in the election on 14 May will be CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıcdaroglu.

Kılıçdaroglu is an experienced politician like Erdoğan. Kılıcdaroglu, who became a candidate as a result of the decision of the Millet Alliance established under the leadership of CHP, will try to achieve an election victory against Erdoğan.

Kılıcdaroglu's biggest trump card before the election is the evil of the economic picture... Kılıcdaroglu says that if he wins the election, the economy will improve. Kılıcdaroglu's supporters include the IYI Party, Democracy and Atılım Party, Future Party, Felicity Party and Democrat Party.

Together with these parties, the CHP's vote rate is estimated to be 40%.

HDP SUPPORTS KEMAL KILICDAROGLU

HDP, which is not in the Millet Alliance, will also support Kemal Kılıcdaroglu. Although no official statement of support has been made so far, messages from HDP officials are in favor of Kılıçdaroğlu.

Expressing that they can support Kılıcdaroglu in their statements, the exact stance of HDP is curious. Kemal Kılıcdaroglu may become the new President of Turkey if HDP supports him. It is estimated that HDP received between 8% and 10% of the votes.

WHAT IS ERDOGAN AND KILICDAROGLU'S FOREIGN POLICY STRATEGY?

The foreign policy strategies of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his rival Kemal Kılıcdaroglu differ significantly. Erdoğan is trying to implement anti-US policies after the coup attempt on July 15, 2016.

Erdoğan, who gets closer to the USA against states such as Russia, Iran and China, also takes a stance against the European Union.

Erdoğan's rival Kılıcdaroglu promises to improve relations with the United States if he wins the election. Kılıcdaroglu also announced that he will work towards Turkey's goal of inclusion in the European Union. In short, if Kılıcdaroglu wins the election, he will display a different foreign policy from Erdogan.
