The 159 students of the Kestekidion Greek, the purely Greek school in Brussels, which has a kindergarten, primary and secondary education, have been looking for a new home since Wednesday.
The press office of the Embassy of Greece in Belgium confirmed to AMNA that the building in which the purely Greek school is housed was closed as it was unsuitable for the safety of students and teachers.
The building was judged by technical experts from the Ministry of Education, who inspected the building that houses the Greek school in the Saint-Gilles municipality of Brussels.
On March 15, the Ministry of Education informed the Brussels Education Council about this and the same day the school was closed.
The Embassy of Greece in Belgium, in collaboration with the Greek community of Brussels and the Metropolis of Belgium, are looking for a new building to house the students of the Greek school as soon as possible. Until then, the students of the Greek school will continue their lessons online.
The building in which the Greek school of Brussels has been housed since the 1970s was a donation from Greek businessman Leonidas Kestekides, founder of the well-known chocolate factory "Leonidas".
