"THE 430-FOOT AEOLUS MEGAYACHT IS A SEAFARING SANCTUARY" Named after the Greek god of wind

AIOLOS (Aeolus) was the divine keeper of the winds and king of the mythical, floating island of Aiolia (Aeolia). He kept the violent Storm-Winds locked safely away inside the cavernous interior of his isle, releasing them only at the command of greatest gods to wreak devastation upon the world.

Named after the Greek god of wind, Aeolus was conceived by the same boatbuilder behind Jeff Bezos’ $500 million sailing megayacht.

Oceanco, the Dutch yacht yard behind Jeff Bezos’ $500 million megayacht, recently unveiled a “floating sanctuary sculpted by the wind” at the 2023 Dubai International Boat Show.

Named Aeolus after the Greek god of wind, the 430-foot megayacht’s hull features two forward-oriented buttresses containing multi-use spaces, while the layered glass-clad decks are designed to maximize potential for views of the seascape. All decks are connected by a central feature elevator and staircase.

The main deck features an integrated pool and lounging area to the stern with stairs descending to the beach club. The main deck lounge welcomes all passengers, leading them up a staircase into the inner atrium. Adjacent to the gym and open exterior atrium are two guest suites.

While the exterior was conceived by famed car designer Giles Taylor, the interior was designed by architects from Bergman Design House’s superyacht-centric Njord division, which envisions sustainable furnishings and finishes in accordance with Oceanco’s eco-minded NXT initiative.Selected materials include “lower-impact flooring” in place of hardwoods, “Desserto” vegan leather made from climate-positive cacti, and non-toxically processed and dyed linens.

Oceanco has devised an adaptable architecture that can be continually updated the latest available green tech.

If it were built today, Aeolus would be equipped with a diesel electric system. A mid-life upgrade would incorporate any fuel cell advancements, while the final stage would be entirely run on a diesel-less fuel cell/ICE hybrid.
