On the occasion of Ramadan, the municipal authorities of the Fatih Municipality of Istanbul decided to carry out cleaning and disinfection work inside the Hagia Sophia. However, the recorded images do not match the history of the Hagia Sophia.
And this is because, as reported by the Turkish media, during the cleaning work carried out by the teams of the Directorate of Environmental Protection and Control of Fatih Municipality, the interior of Hagia Sophia, which was converted into a mosque, by Erdoğan's decision, "was washed with rose water".

Even the teams of the municipality cleaned with hot water the courtyard of Hagia Sophia and the surrounding area.
For his part, the Deputy Director of Environmental Protection and Control of Fatih Municipality, Recep Yildiz, said that the carpets in Hagia Sophia were cleaned and swept in work carried out by a team of 20 people before Ramadan.
"We also clean the courtyard, the Hagia Sophia square and the fountains with hot water. Our aim is to ensure that citizens will visit a healthier environment," emphasised Yildiz.
