My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 finally has a release date - 8 September, 2023!

Elena Kampouris, who debuted in the 2016 sequel to the iconic rom-com by portraying Toula and Ian's daughter Paris, has given additional details about what fans can expect from the upcoming film, including the fact that there will be new romances.

Director and star Nia Vardalos - who plays Toula - confirmed the movie will feature another wedding, and there has been speculation the event could likely centre around Paris and a new love interest.

When it comes to everything that's known about My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3, things like the movie's Greece setting and some of its cast have been established, but the same cannot be said for its plot.

Vardalos has kept the specifics of the film mostly under wraps since its announcement, but a recent interview has shed a bit more light on what the narrative will be.

In a talk with Screen Rant, Elena Kampouris has given new insight on My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3's storyline, as well as reiterating that filming has wrapped.

"We finished that in the summer—we were all over Athens. It was magical because everybody comes back! There's new romance! There are new plotlines and twist! And it also pays tribute to Michael Constantine and his legacy. I can't wait for people see it. September!," she said.

Several years have passed since My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, which is why it started to seem increasingly unlikely that the franchise would receive a third entry. However, a large portion of this delay wasn't from disinterest in the film, but rather because of the pandemic.

When My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 was announced in 2021, Vardalos elaborated that since the third movie is an independent project and only studio films could obtain insurance during the height of the coronavirus, the production faced setbacks.

Vardalos recently shared that "Sex and the City" fans might be in for a major reveal when her on-screen husband John Corbett returns to the franchise in "And Just Like That" season two.

"He got in really good shape," she told Entertainment Tonight reporter Cassie DiLaura on the red carpet at Elton John AIDS Foundation's 31st Annual Academy Awards Viewing Party. "So, I have a feeling there's nudity in that....I have a feeling."

"John's vegan now, so he looks good," the "Love, Victor" actor added, noting that her "Greek Wedding" character Toula will happily "share" her fictional husband Ian with Parker.

For 22 episodes of "Sex and the City, " Corbett played Aidan, the only man other than Mr. Big (Chris Noth) who truly captured Carrie's heart. But she cheated on him with Big in season three and broke off an engagement in season four after realizing she had marriage jitters and Aidan didn't fully trust her.

In "Sex and the City 2," Carrie and Aidan ran into each other in Abu Dhabi and shared dinner and a kiss. The moment only inspired her to fix her marriage with Big, so Carrie and Aidan appeared to be over for good.

In April 2021, Corbett falsely told Page Six that he would be appearing in "quite a few" episodes of the revival series "And Just Like That" for season one, ultimately appearing in none.

His admission caused quite a stir among fans, and Parker told Andy Cohen on "Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen" that he later reached out to her and apologized for the joke.

"It was fun for him to say that," she said. "He actually reached out very kindly, because he's nothing if not a gentleman, and apologized for doing that as a joke. And then I was like, 'No, no, no, I mean, it's a free country,' first of all, and second of all, I thought it was kind of delightful and fun."

Speculation that Corbett would actually return to the franchise for "And Just Like That" season two was reported by Deadline in August, and confirmed by Parker to Entertainment Tonight the next month. Images of the co-stars kissing have since become public.

The first season of "And Just Like That" is available to stream on HBO Max.
