Vassilis Spanoulis: Olympiacos retires #7 jersey in honour of the basketball legend

It was only a matter of time before the #7 for Olympiacos Basketball Club would be retired.

The Red and Whites officially announced that on September 17, the #7 jersey will retire in honour of Vassilis Spanoulis.

With a special event on 09/17/2023, which will include unique and historic moments, KAE Olympiacos will honour the Legend, Vassilis Spanoulis and is ready to raise the shirt with No7 to the 'sky' of SEF!

Vassilis Spanoulis - The Legend

The 40-year-old is a Greek former professional basketball player and current professional basketball coach for Peristeri Athens of the Greek Basket League and the FIBA Champions League.

The Larissa-born legend spent the majority of his playing career in the Greek Basket League, winning four Greek League titles as a member of Panathinaikos Athens, and three Greek titles as a member of Olympiacos Piraeus.

He also won three EuroLeague titles, one with the former club (2009), and two consecutive (2012 and 2013) with the latter.

HoopsHype named Spanoulis one of the 75 Greatest International Players Ever in 2021. In 2022, he was named a EuroLeague Legend. He was also inducted into the Greek Basket League Hall of Fame in 2022.
