Meteora is home to one of the 17 most beautiful churches in the world, the Monastery of the Holy Trinity, according to Conde Nast Traveler.
“As if still-standing monasteries from the 15th century weren’t impressive enough, the buildings of Meteora are famously situated on nearly inaccessible sandstone peaks in central Greece. “Whether or not you consider yourself a spiritual person, there’s something special about visiting sacred sites during a trip. At the link in bio, explore our picks for the 17 most beautiful churches in the world.
The Monastery of the Holy Trinity was built in 1488 by a monk named Dometios, but sources testify to its existence as early as 1362. It is open to visitors every day, except Thursday, from 9 am to 4 pm.
In Conde Nast Traveler’s tribute to the most beautiful churches in the world, there are churches from Iceland to Ethiopia, among them the Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Montmartre, the colourful St. Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow and the Cathedral (Duomo) in Milan.
