MYKONOS: Businessman accused of raping a teacher

rape sexual assault man Mykonos Palestinian

A businessman from Mykonos has been accused of raping a teacher.

A woman claims that she was the victim of rape by a businessman, her lawyer Giorgos Kaniaris told ANT1 TV show "The Breakfast".

"He addressed the authorities on the third day after the incident. After two months, we got in touch," emphasised Kaniaris.

"The police initially told her that she just had some bruises. It appeared they saw it as a sexual encounter," Kaniaris said, adding that it was "a shocking case" as the new 2019 law could carry a life sentence.

Her lawyer explained that "the prosecutor issued an urgent order as a result of which facts that had been well buried in the previous months came to the surface."

"Thus, with the consent of the investigating prosecutor, the temporary detention of the person has been ordered as the woman was not possible to be herself. She was not in a good condition, she was hallucinating," said Kaniaris.
