In a remote coastal area of the Greek mainland, a sailboat crashed into rocks and partially sank, resulting in the death of one migrant and the rescue of 47 others.

Among the survivors was the body of a dead man, while four minors and three women were taken to the General Hospital of Lakonia for medical examination.
The rest of the migrants will be transferred to the town of Gythio

The migrants, consisting of 15 men, 16 women, and 16 minors, managed to reach a beach and call for help near the southern tip of the Peloponnese region, roughly 250 kilometers south of Athens.

Four children and three women were hospitalized for observation while one man was found unresponsive and later confirmed dead.

The nationality of the migrants is unknown, and coast guard divers have searched the hull of the sailboat for any remaining individuals.

In recent years, migrants have taken more dangerous journeys to avoid patrolled Greek islands close to Turkey, with smugglers often abandoning boats on the way to the Greek mainland or Italy.
