There has been an estimated 2.5 million international air and road arrivals in Greece in the first quarter of 2023, with air arrivals up by double-digits from the first quarter of 2019, but road arrivals are still lagging significantly.

Compared to last year, when travel restrictions were still in place due to the "Omicron" mutation of Covid-19, the performance of Greek tourism is much higher, as seen in the data provided by the Institute of the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises, INSETE, by bodies such as Civil Aviation Service, Athens International Airport, Fraport Greece and Border Stations.

In particular, in the period January-March 2023, 1.4 million international air arrivals were recorded, surpassing the levels of the corresponding period of 2022, with an impressive increase of 87.5% or otherwise by 646,000 arrivals, while compared to the period January-March 2019 the increase is estimated at +12.8%.

INSETE observes that all geographical units recorded an increase in the January-March period of 2023, compared to the corresponding period of 2022.
