Public transport to strike across Greece on Monday, Labour Day

A 24-hour strike in public transport for Monday, May 1, Labour Day will bring Greece to a standstill.

The Athens metro (lines 1, 2 and 3) and tram trains will be on a 24-hr strike, as announced on Friday by workers' unions, but buses and trolleys will operate from 09:00 until 21:00.

The National Railway will also be on a 24-hour strike, as will the Attica and Peloponnese Suburban Railway (proastiakos).

Ferry and boat employees will be on a 24-hour strike, with ships to stay docked at all Greek ports.

Furthermore, demonstrations will be held at 11:00 am in Syntagma Square and at the same time in Piraeus at Pasalimani on Labor Day. In Thessaloniki, demonstrations are planned at the statue of Eleftherios Venizelos at 11:00 am.

Additional demonstrations are expected to take place throughout Greece on Labour Day.
