The upcoming instalment in the My Big Fat Greek Wedding franchise will honour the late Michael Constantine, who passed away in 2021 at 94.

During the CinemaCon 2023 presentation in Las Vegas, Focus Features unveiled a trailer for the upcoming sequel, which revealed that My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 would focus on the Portokalos family's journey to Greece to fulfil Gus Portokalos's (played by Constantine) final wishes. Nia Vardalos, who wrote and starred in the original 2002 film and directed the new one, stated on Instagram after Constantine's death that she crafted the sequel around his absence.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Rita Wilson, who produces the film with her husband, Tom Hanks, praised Vardalos' work as writer, director, and star of the movie, adding that she is delighted that the third instalment, shot on location in Greece, will bring more joy to audiences.
