Greek Shipping Magnate Lands $17 Million Brentwood Park Estate

A little more than a year after it first popped up for sale with a nearly $24 million ask, a stately traditional mansion in an exclusive pocket of Brentwood has officially sold to Greek shipping executive Vasilis Bacolitsas and his wife Sophia Nikolaidou for the discounted yet still pricey sum of $17.5 million.

Originally built in 1986, and recently purchased by the director of Sea Pioneer Shipping Corp., the three-level home underwent an extensive renovation in early 2022. The sellers were Chicago-based hedge fund manager James Gordon and his wife Andrea, who acquired the property in 2020 from Bill and Giuliana Rancic.

Tucked away behind walls and gates, the almost half-acre property offers six bedrooms and eight baths in just over 9,300 square feet of modern living space boasting a mix of stone and blonde hardwood floors, high ceilings, French oak and brass finishes, and black steel-framed windows and doors throughout.

Especially notable is an elegant entry foyer that flows to a wet bar-equipped living room sporting a massive wood-burning fireplace, and an adjacent formal dining room that seats 10 and has a built-in sideboard, each lined with walls of glass spilling out to an expansive terrace bordered by a manicured lawn hosting a resort-style swimming pool.

Back inside, a butler’s pantry connects via a barn-style door to a gourmet kitchen, which is topped by a particularly striking glass-pitched ceiling, and comes complete with high-end Viking appliances, a pricey Char-Glo grill and Garland convection oven, an eat-in island and accompanying breakfast room warmed by a fireplace.

Other main-level highlights include a glamorous main-floor master retreat, which is decked out with a fireplace, sitting area, separate office space, custom walk-in closet, and marble-clad bath equipped with dual vanities, a soaking tub and two-person shower.

Additional guest bedrooms throughout the house include three upstairs and one downstairs, while the lower level holds a glass-encased gym and spacious fireside entertainment area. There’s also an attached three-car garage out front.
