Antigoni Drisbioti Wins Gold for Greece at the European Championships

Greek race walker Antigoni Drisbioti won the gold medal in the 20 km walk at the European Championships on Sunday in the Czech Republic.

The holder of the Panhellenic record finished ahead of her competitors in 1 hour, 29 minutes and 17 seconds, achieving the third-best performance of her career.

The 39-year-old Greek athlete said after her triumph that she was in control for most of the race:

“It was a great race. All the athletes who will compete in the World Cup were there to claim the medals. I managed to get to the victory, and I did it because I followed the plan we had made with my coach and managed the race correctly. I was in control.
