Taste Atlas has become particularly popular in recent months with its periodic lists of top foods by category. Now it was the turn for the top dips in the world and Greek cuisine has several representatives.

Starting from the one that is in the lowest position, we see that the Patzarosalata (Beetroot Salad) is 40th out of 50 in the relevant list. A little higher, in position 35 is the taramosalata, while close to the 31st position is the eggplant salad.

A few places higher and perhaps... unjustified is the tyrokauteri which is in the 23rd place of the ranking with the fava being in the 17th place.

Very close to the top could not be anything other than tzatziki which is ranked 5th in the Taste Atlas ranking.

Regarding the first place, Lebanon with Mutabal has won the "competition".

The well-known page writes about tzatziki on its website:

"Tzatziki is a Greek concoction made from yogurt, cucumbers, garlic, and numerous herbs and spices such as dill, mint, or parsley. It is usually served as a sauce accompanying many meat dishes, as a simple dip, or an appetizer.

"Its name is derived from the Turkish word cacik, denoting a very similar dip, although some suspect that tzatziki was derived from the Indian raita dip.

"Tzatziki is always served cold, and it is especially popular to serve it with dishes such as gyros and souvlaki. Often, it is served with pita bread as part of the first course of a big meal.

"With its huge popularity, and the fact that it is one of the best summer dips, it is not strange that there are many regional variations of tzatziki, in countries such as Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Cyprus, Bulgaria, and Serbia."
